Devil's Smile

The darkness faded into light and,
The sun's first rays hit the earth,
Filling the air with ill luck and evil,
It was going to be one of those days....

He woke up to the realization, that
He was now 'a victim of humanity',
A victim, to the inherent dishonesty and thievery in humans,
consequential of evolution from predators.
Bereaved of his precious,
By an act of insidious and defenseless violence,
He rose in anger only to find that he was incapacitated of a response.
Disappointment and disgust seeped into his blood,
As he digested the death of morality and the helpless situation.
Confusion and chaos followed through out the day,
And "learned helplessness" was consuming him like the 'Hollywood' quick sand.
After all what power does a mortal hold,
when the devil chooses to smile upon him?
